What is Bánh Mì?

Bánh Mì is a traditional Vietnamese sandwich.

The story of Bánh Mì begins in the 19th century when Vietnam was part of French Indochina. The French introduced their baguette with butter and jam filling to Vietnam. The Vietnamese took this and transformed it with their own culinary innovation. They replaced butter and jam with Vietnamese flavors such as cilantro, pickled carrots and daikon, and combined them with a variety of proteins. The baguette became lighter, airier, and crispier. Thus, Bánh Mì was born!

Our Bánh Mì features all the textures at once: the freshness of a French-styled short baguette with a light, crispy crust on the outside and an airy, chewy bread on the inside; the richness of various meats; the crunch of pickled carrot and daikon; the creaminess of mayonnaise and pâté; and cilantro to bring all the different flavors together.
